Letter to the Fans
To our wonderful fans,Firstly, thank you!!! Your support throughout this season has been amazing and means a great deal to the student-athletes and the Department of Athletics. Hasn't it been incredible!?! I hope you are all having as much fun as we are. This past Saturday we had an incredible crowd attend the UNE vs. Nichols Basketball game. Our women beat a previously undefeated Nichols team and our men, just did what they do so well and finished business. For that we are grateful and proud. However, during that game, the Commissioner of The Commonwealth Coast Conference, mentioned to me that one of our cheers was offensive. Therefore, I am writing to you to request/require that you do not use the words "you suck" in any of your cheers during this upcoming week. We are doing so well and it is important that our University is acknowledged for the incredible success of our student-athletes. In considering this issue, I did some research and found that Syracuse University, American University, Kansas University and the NFL have all banned the "Hey Song". I do not want to ban it, I want us to find a better choice of words that are positive and sportsmanlike!
You are the best fans and we need you, and as I tell our teams, be above reproach, then we can truly bask in our success. Thank you, Kim
